A Guide to Usage of Delta-8 and Delta-9 Products
More than 500 different chemical substances, including 100 cannabinoids like CBD and THC, are found in the cannabis plant. Although some states have legalized marijuana for medical or recreational purposes, the Drug Enforcement Administration still classifies the plant as a Schedule I drug, a classification reserved for substances with a high potential for abuse and no known medical benefits. The legality of the plant's constituents, such as delta-8 THC, is murky at best. Delta-8 THC is not subject to federal regulation because of a flaw in the 2018 agriculture bill. By definition, hemp is a cannabis plant with 0.3 percent delta-9 THC or below, levels too low to have a psychoactive effect. This legislation made hemp legal.
